The event will take place in Liverpool over the 28th May - 3rd June 2012.

Call for Abstract Submission

The scientific committee is pleased to invite you to submit abstracts for consideration at the joint conference of IHW, EFI and BSHI taking place 31st May – 3rd June 2012 in Liverpool.

Original abstracts should be submitted on subjects relevant to the following categories:
• Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
• Solid Organ Transplantation
• Antigen Presentation and Immunological Tolerance
• Non-HLA Polymorphism
• Autoimmunity, Disease Association and Cancer
• MHC-Peptides, -Epitopes and Prediction
• Mixed Immunogenetics/Miscellaneous
• Bioinformatics

Abstracts must be received by the deadline date of 6th February 2012.
Abstracts received after this deadline will NOT be accepted.
Faxed or posted abstracts will NOT be accepted.
Oral presenters will be allotted 9 minutes for the presentation and 3 minutes for questions and answers.

All abstracts received will be scored anonymously by a group of assessors appointed by the EFI Scientific Committee. Successful abstracts will be assigned to either oral or poster presentation and will be published in Tissue Antigens.

The highest scoring abstracts for oral presentation will be invited to be presented during the “Best Abstract Session” and will be judged by a panel consisting of past EFI Presidents. The winner of the Best Abstract Session will receive the “Jon van Rood Award” in honour of the founder of EFI. The top three abstracts from this session will receive a financial award.

Abstracts selected for poster presentation, where the lead author is aged 35 years or younger, will be assessed by a group of assessors appointed by the local organising committee. The best posters will receive a “Best Poster Award”. This award is kindly sponsored by Life Technologies. Please indicate your eligibility for the young researcher prize when submitting your abstract.

The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission.

After selection, all presenting authors will be sent full details regarding the scheduling of their presentation, including the time and date as well as the format of the presentation. In the case of poster presentations, details of the size and layout will also be provided.

Requirements for Abstract Submission
Title
- The title must be in UPPERCASE LETTERS. Please avoid the use of abbreviations in the title.
Text - The abstract (original scientific and/or technical work that has not been published in peer-review journals) text should be limited to 2000 characters, including spaces. Tables, figures and references are not allowed. Present the text in a single paragraph (do not use hard returns, except for end of section). Do not use headings, do not introduce lines between sections and do not insert special categories (i.e. "motivation", "methods").
Symbols and Greek Letters - To avoid any formatting problem, only plain text is allowed. Do not use any symbols, Greek letters or formatting such as superscript, subscript, bold, italics, etc.
Corresponding Author - Each abstract must be submitted by the individual indicated as corresponding author; this author will be notified with confirmation emails and the outcome of the abstract review. It is required that the full contact information of the corresponding user be given.
